NYH IN-HOUSE PROGRAM 2010/2011
NYHA provides an in-house hockey program that offers a range of individual and team skill development opportunities for children who do not participate in travel or select hockey.
All programs are coed.
Please note: program costs are up-to date and dates currently being finalized for 2010, but will be similar to last year. Sign ups open 9/1.
Beginner Hockey
The Beginner Hockey program is for children 4-6 years old with little or no hockey experience. It is beginner level instruction and is modeled after USA Hockey’s Cross-Ice training program.
It is recommended that Beginner Hockey players have some skating ability. Experience has shown that children who can stand and move on skates (no crates) are better equipped to participate
in Beginner Hockey. Desired coach to player ratio is 4 to 1. Volunteer coaches are needed. In order to coach, you must complete a USA/Mass Hockey Level 1 Initiation training clinic.
NYH will sponsor a Level 1 clinic.
Practices: Saturdays October 24, 2009 – March 13, 2010 at 11:20am @ St. Sebastian’s Rink*
Games: Sundays January 10, 2009 through March 14, 2010 at 4:30 pm @ St. Sebastian’s
Cost: $275 per player
Rookie Hockey
The Rookie Hockey program is for children 5-7 years old. This program is modeled after USA Hockey’s Cross-Ice training program and provides a more advanced level of instruction that builds
on skills taught in Beginner Hockey. Children who are 5 or 6 must have had one year of Beginner hockey to participate at this level. No experience is necessary for 7 year olds although they
must be able to stand and move on skates. Desired coach to player ratio is 4 to 1. Volunteer coaches are needed. In order to coach, you must complete a USA/Mass Hockey Level 1 Initiation
training clinic. NYH will sponsor a Level 1 clinic.

Games: Sundays November 8, 2009 - March 14, 2010 at 5:30pm @ St. Sebastian’s
Cost: $320 per player
Intramural Mite Hockey
The Intramural Mite Hockey program is for children 6-8 years old. The program is a continuation of USA Hockey’s cross-ice training program with more advanced skill development and goalies
with equipment. The practices and games will be fast paced with the emphasis placed on individual skill development and creativity. Additional practices and games to supplement the regular
Saturday and Sunday schedules are planned. Children who are 6 and 7 years old must have two years of Needham hockey experience. No experience is necessary for 8-year-old players.
Desired coach to player ratio is 4 to 1. Volunteer coaches are needed. In order to coach, you must complete USA/Mass Hockey Level 1 Initiation training clinics. NYH will sponsor a Level 1 clinic.

Cost: $335 per player
Intramural Major Hockey
The Intramural Major Hockey program is for children 9-12 years old. The emphasis is on both individual skill development and team play with full ice games. Additional skill sessions, team
practice ice, and games against other town’s in-house programs or ‘C’ teams are planned as a supplement to the regular Saturday and Sunday schedules. No experience is necessary for
player between the ages of 9-12. Children 7 or 8 years old with three years of experience in Needham Youth Hockey may choose to participate in this program. Desired coach to player ratio
is 5 to 1. Volunteer coaches are needed. In order to coach, you must complete USA/Mass Hockey Level 1 Initiation. NYH will sponsor a Level 1 clinic.
Practices: Saturdays October 17, 2009 – March 13, 2010 at 8:05 or 9:10 am @ St. Sebastian’s*
Games: Sundays November 8, 2009 - March 7, 2010 at 7:45 am and 9:00 am at The Dexter School
Cost: $390 per player
